TheChessPiece.com is pleased to announce this magnificent chess set is themed around the world financial centers where people refer to markets as either bullish or bearish! Hand carved by who we believe is currently the best wooden chess piece knight carver and turner in India, these pieces characterize the market from a chess players stand point. These pieces are hand carved in rich, black ebony and traditional boxwood for the white pieces. Any truly discerning buyer will know by looking at the pictures at how this style, panache and attention to detail is simply world class. The knights (in this case the bulls and bears on their plinths) are hand carved from a single piece of wood and placed on the traditional turned bases.
Bulls form the boxwood pieces and the subservient looking bears appear to be waiting their chance to pounce on the bulls! From a carving standpoint note that the plinth is part of carving of the animal and which is connected to the turned base in the traditional way of making knights. All these hand carved pieces are absolutely unique and highly collectible.
The King is 4.4" tall with a 1 7/8" base diameter. The pieces have leaded bases (now not normally used in chess manufacture) and offer quadruple weighting with the King at 4.6 ounces. All pieces have pristine cut green felt pads on their wide bases which should be expected for a fine set of custom chessmen like these.
The set shown is made in a combination of genuine ebony and boxwood. If you prefer these pieces in blood rosewood and boxwood then you can view this here: blood rosewood stockmarket chess set.
The price shown is for these fine chess pieces only but the board shown can be purchased as an option. These chessmen are shown on our recently announced James Bennett Series Chessboards, designed and only available from TheChessPiece.com. We recommend a chessboard with a minimum square size of 2 1/4" although some may prefer a larger 2 1/2" square.
