An exquisite camel bone design featuring alternate crosses and bifurcated bishops. The King measures 4 1/4" and the base is 1 1/4" in diameter. All pieces as is customery with camel bone sets have green felt slides.
This series of chessboards has been designed to compliment our camel bone chessmen. This particular chess board has 1 3/4 " squares and measures 18" x 18"
This interesting stainless steel/copper finished Goblet design features a 4" King with nearly a 1 3/8" Base. The caps of the Kings and Queens unscrew, perhaps revealing a mystery prize for the winner? This set was selected by Chess Collectors International to celebrate the 2008 Meeting held in Boca Raton in 2008. The set bears the inscription CCI 2008 on the Kings. We now only have two of these commemorative sets left.
This is an Islamic design in camel bone resembling pepperpot features. The piece differentiation is difficult and relates to the hole patterns on the bodies of each piece and their respective heights. It's hard to imagine that people could play the game with these pieces but this is an accurate historical representation of this set of chessmen.
At TheChessPiece we are always pleased to introduce new products inspired by ourselves, our vendors and our customers.
One of our many valued customers, James Bennett purchased a fine set of chessmen from us and then was so impressed with the set he personally designed a chessboard which he thought would best suit and enhance the artistic value. He was so pleased with the result he sent us pictures and allowed us to take the idea to market. We were so inspired with the design we put it into production ourselves and this series completely emerged as a result of that great customer-vendor interaction.
Completely different from anything else, these boards are hand made in the exotic wood padauk and maple and are available in a number of popular sizes including 1.75”, 2.25” and 2.5” square.
The rails are made of a solid piece of padauk with the embellishment routed out of part of that same piece of wood which emphasizes the shape and board geometry. The underside is covered completely with lush black felt which will protect the surface on which it is placed whether a fine piece of furniture or a table.
Price is for the chessboard and does not include the chess pieces displayed on it. The set of pieces shown is our popular Alban set which can be purchased separately which includes our Triple Decker chess sets.
The Northern Upright (or Edinburgh) chess set was a popular precursor of the Staunton pattern and is thought to have partly inspired the first Staunton design. Our Northern Upright set is an accurate reproduction of this early 19th century pattern.
